It uses 95% less energy to make an aluminium product from another aluminium product than it does from raw materials. Each single can recycled saves enough electricity to run a TV for 3 hours. This means that recycling one kilogram of aluminium saves 20kg of greenhouse gas from the atmosphere.
Aluminium foil can be recycled in your yellow-topped bin. Your aluminium foil will be easily recovered if it is scrunched up into a tennis sized ball rather than left flat.
At Easter time, put all your egg wrappers together to make a ball. If the foil is too small it will be difficult for the sorting equipment to separate.
