Coffee Pods

This item should be placed in your general waste bin to be sent to landfill

Coffee pods are too small to recycle, so a drop off location is preferred.

The number of coffee pods used in one year circles the earth more than 10 times.

Why not try a locally roasted coffee from your local coffee shop instead?

Nespresso coffee capsule recycling program has more than 22,000 collection points throughout Australia. There are four easy ways to recycle the capsules:

  • Return your used capsules to your nearest Nespresso boutique.
  • Drop off your used capsules at your nearest participating florist or garden drop off centre.
  • Use a bulk recycling box to collect on behalf of your workplace or community.
  • Fill your Nespresso Australia Post satchel with used capsules and return via Australia Post.

Check with other manufacturers to find out if they run a recycling program for their capsules. Visit Terracycle for more information on other programs.

You can also buy reusable coffee pods that you put freshly ground coffee into which are a much more sustainable option.

If possible, remove the coffee grounds from the pod. Please the grounds in your FOGO bin and the pod in your general waste bin.
